Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled SAP Variant Configuration (VC) Consultant with deep expertise in configuration solutioning and modeling. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, optimizing, and managing complex, multi-level product configurations to support seamless order execution and manufacturing. A critical component of this role involves driving modern configuration practices, particularly supporting the data migration and transformation from legacy LO-VC to Advanced Variant Configuration (AVC).
The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between complex engineering requirements and downstream SAP modules like Production Planning (PP) and Sales.
Key Responsibilities
- Model Optimization: Design and optimize configuration models to enhance system performance, utilizing efficient dependency design to ensure fast, real-time processing during order execution.
- Complex Configurations: Build and manage highly complex, multi-level product configurations, establishing robust parent-child relationships across intricate assemblies.
- Dependency & BOM Management: Architect and maintain Object Dependencies and Variant Bills of Materials (VBOM / OBOM) to ensure precise and accurate component selection during the production cycle.
- SAP PP Integration: Collaborate closely with manufacturing teams to integrate VC models with Production Planning (PP), overseeing critical workflows like BOM explosion, routing selection, and manufacturing execution.
- AVC Migration: Lead and execute data migration and transformation activities, specifically transitioning configuration models from traditional LO-VC to Advanced Variant Configuration (AVC).
- System Integration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to expose and integrate SAP VC structures with front-end applications, e-commerce platforms, or third-party downstream systems.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Core Technical Stack: Comprehensive hands-on experience with SAP Variant Configuration (VC) modeling, characteristics, classes, configuration profiles, and variant tables.
- Advanced Engine Knowledge: Proven experience or strong understanding of SAP S/4HANA Advanced Variant Configuration (AVC) and the migration paths from LO-VC.
- Dependency Logic: High proficiency in writing clean, efficient object dependencies (Pre-conditions, Selection Conditions, Actions, Procedures, and Constraints).
- Integration Points: Solid understanding of SAP PP master data interaction (Super BOMs, Super Routings) and how it responds to configuration choices.
- Data Migration: Prior experience handling data conversion, transformation, and testing frameworks for manufacturing master data.
