Job Description
- The Scrum Master supports Enterprise Growth by fostering adherence to Humana Ways of Working, SAFe practices, principles and enabling their Scrum team to deliver high‑quality outcomes through effective collaboration and continuous improvement. The Scrum Master partners, coaches and mentors Product Owners, engineering, design and analytics team members, and stakeholders to ensure practices, tooling and collaboration are consistently applied and optimized.
- The Scrum Master facilitates all PI and Scrum events, including PI planning, sprint planning, daily stand‑ups, reviews, and retrospectives, ensuring work is delivered within time‑boxed iterations. Using Humana's enterprise tools, they help the team track and communicate progress, remove impediments, and maintain focus on delivering value aligned to business priorities.
- This role requires a strong understanding of departmental, segment, and organizational strategies, as well as how team outcomes connect to broader operating objectives across the portfolio ecosystem. Work assignments are varied and may involve interpreting goals, navigating ambiguity, and independently determining appropriate courses of action.
- The Scrum Master operates with minimal supervision, making informed decisions regarding work methods while following established guidelines and procedures. Guidance is provided as needed, particularly in complex or evolving situations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate Scrum ceremonies and ensure effective execution of SAFe and Scrum practices
- Coach teams on Humana Ways of Working, agile principles, continuous improvement, and self‑organization
- Track sprint progress and promote transparency through clear communication and use of Humana tools
- Identify and help eliminate impediments impacting delivery and flow
- Partner with Product Owners and stakeholders to support prioritization and alignment
- Understand and align team delivery to Omni‑Channel and organizational objectives
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equal expertise
- Excellent communication skills, leadership competencies, and high level of emotional intelligence
- Experience working in an Agile Scrum environment or good familiarity with the Agile methodologies
- Proven expertise as a Scrum Master in a globally distributed environment
- 4+ years' experience as a Scrum Master in an Agile Release Train
- Must be passionate about contributing to an organization focused on continuously improving consumer experiences
- On-video is required for this role.
- SAFe 6.0 SSM certification (active)
- Location: On or near-shore
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in Azure DevOps AND Jira Align
- Prior insurance operations background
- Advanced knowledge of Agile/Scrum/Kanban development methodology
- Working knowledge of Agile Project Management Tools
- Scrum Master certification
- Prior experience working with product teams
- Prior experience in the health solutions industry
- Working experience with IT teams
