Key Responsibilities
1. Platform Ownership (Network & Monitoring Tools) – Must Have
- Own and manage monitoring platforms such as SolarWinds (including NetPath)
- Ensure platform stability, performance, patching, upgrades, and day-to-day support
- Manage onboarding of new devices, systems, and sites into monitoring platforms
- Leverage network monitoring capabilities including SNMP polling, traps, and telemetry
- Collaborate with cloud and platform teams to ensure monitoring standards for migrated workloads
2. Systems Administration – Must Have
- Provide hands-on administration for Linux and Windows servers, including:
- Agent deployment and upgrades (SolarWinds, Datadog, Dynatrace)
- OS-level troubleshooting and configuration
- Monitoring and logging enablement
- Support hybrid environments spanning on-premises and Azure infrastructure
- Apply a developer mindset with experience in Dev workflows (GitHub, PowerShell, scripting)
3. Observability & Event Management – Should Have
- Work with tools such as Datadog and Dynatrace
- Collaborate with platform owners to improve:
- Data quality
- Alerting strategies
- Monitoring coverage
- Enhance event management workflows:
- Ensure alerts are actionable and properly routed
- Reduce alert noise and recurring incidents
4. SIEM & Security Visibility – Nice to Have
- Develop working knowledge of SIEM platforms such as Azure Sentinel and Cribl
- Support:
- Log ingestion and troubleshooting
- Integration with security tools
- Collaboration with incident response teams
- Ensure monitoring and telemetry align with security detection requirements
5. Cloud Monitoring & Azure Integration – Should Have
- Work with Microsoft Azure monitoring and logging tools:
- Azure Monitor
- Log Analytics
- Support observability for Azure-hosted workloads
- Enable and maintain cloud-based telemetry, logs, and metrics
6. Automation, AI & Continuous Improvement – Nice to Have
- Leverage AI-assisted capabilities in monitoring and SIEM tools to:
- Improve signal quality and reduce alert fatigue
- Accelerate incident triage and resolution
- Contribute to:
- Documentation and runbooks
- Platform optimization initiatives
- Incremental operational improvements
7. Knowledge Transfer & Operational Resilience
- Participate in knowledge transfer for platform transitions and retirements
- Maintain up-to-date documentation and operational artifacts
- Support on-call rotations and escalation processes as required
Required Skills & Experience
Must Have
- 4–5+ years of experience in:
- Infrastructure operations
- Monitoring / observability
- Platform engineering in enterprise environments
- Strong hands-on experience with:
- Linux & Windows system administration
- Monitoring tools (SolarWinds, Datadog, Dynatrace)
- Solid networking fundamentals:
- SNMP, LAN/WAN, firewalls, telemetry, device monitoring
- Experience with:
- Alerting, dashboards, and signal quality optimization
- Incident and event management processes
- Proficiency in scripting:
- PowerShell, Python, Bash (or similar)
- Experience with GitHub / Dev workflows:
- Branching, pull requests, CI/CD pipelines
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
Good to Have
- Experience with Microsoft Azure (monitoring, logging, integrations)
- Exposure to Azure Active Directory and hybrid cloud environments
- Familiarity with SIEM tools (Azure Sentinel, Cribl)
- Experience with StruxureWare (optional)
- Understanding of Agile / SAFe methodologies
- Exposure to enterprise change management practices
