Job Title: VMware Administrator – PowerFlex & Nutanix Migration
Location: Remote
Duration: 6 Months
Rate: $55/Hr Max
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Client Build Engineer to support the deployment and operational readiness of PowerFlex storage systems and ESXi hosts across enterprise data centers. This role will also require hands-on experience with Nutanix environments, particularly around Controller Virtual Machine (CVM) operations and migration troubleshooting.
Key Responsibilities:
ESXi Host Deployment & Configuration
Build and configure ESXi hosts using compliance-approved baseline images and validated hardware compatibility lists (HCL)
Ensure BIOS/firmware validation and tagging in vCenter with appropriate annotations.
Manage patching and upgrades, including remediation of legacy drivers and multi-image conflicts
PowerFlex Storage Integration
Collaborate with Dell and internal teams to deploy PowerFlex compute and storage racks, ensuring proper cabling, switch configuration, and management handoff
Support network planning and execution for 40GB connections across Border Leaf and Compute Access switches
Nutanix Environment Support
Assist in the migration from Nutanix to PowerFlex, including planning, execution, and validation of virtual machine transitions.
Troubleshoot CVM-related issues and ensure operational continuity during migration windows.
Operational Management & Compliance
Maintain centralized tracking of build artifacts and migration using PowerBI reporting tools
Participate in weekly build status calls and maintain SharePoint updates for leadership visibility
Collaboration & Documentation
Work closely with cross-functional teams including infrastructure, network, and compliance to ensure seamless deployments.
Document build procedures, patching steps, and troubleshooting guides for internal knowledge sharing
Preferred Qualifications:
Proven experience with Client vSphere, vCenter, ESXi (7.x to 8.x), NSX and HCX.
Familiarity with Nutanix AOS, Prism, AHV, and CVM architecture.
Experience with Dell VxRail and PowerFlex systems.
Strong understanding of PCI compliance and segmentation policies.
Ability to manage large-scale enterprise environments (1000 hosts)
