About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Database Administrator (DBA) with a strong MySQL background to join our team. This role involves managing and optimizing our database infrastructure to ensure high performance, scalability, and reliability. You will work closely with our development team to address challenges in database schema design, migrations, and query optimization.
Key Responsibilities
Database Migration:
Migrate an existing MySQL database to a new infrastructure.
Assess and refine database schema during the migration process to optimize performance and scalability.
Database Performance Optimization:
Diagnose and resolve performance bottlenecks, particularly around complex queries in our main application.
Collaborate with the application team to ensure efficient and optimized database interactions.
Continuously monitor and fine-tune database performance.
Schema Design and Maintenance:
Design and implement database schemas to support business requirements.
Maintain data integrity, consistency, and normalization across the database.
Linux Environment Management:
Manage MySQL databases on Linux-based servers.
Utilize Linux command-line tools for database and system administration tasks.
Best Practices and Documentation:
Establish and enforce database standards and best practices.
Create and maintain comprehensive database documentation.
Requirements
Technical Expertise:
Strong experience with MySQL database management and administration.
Proven expertise in database schema design and migrations.
Proficiency in writing and optimizing SQL queries.
Performance Optimization:
Deep understanding of query performance analysis and optimization techniques.
Familiarity with MySQL performance monitoring tools.
Linux Skills:
Hands-on experience managing databases in Linux environments.
Strong command-line interface (CLI) skills for database and server management.
Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills:
Ability to diagnose and address database bottlenecks and performance issues.
Strong troubleshooting skills with a detail-oriented approach.
Collaboration and Communication:
Excellent communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with database backup and recovery strategies.
Familiarity with tools like MySQL Workbench, Percona Toolkit, or other MySQL utilities.
Exposure to cloud-based database solutions (e.g., AWS RDS, Google Cloud SQL).
Knowledge of NoSQL databases is a plus.
