About the job
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the planning and implementation phases of a new financial tax platform (Avalara). This role requires a strong background in managing complex system implementations, excellent communication skills, and the ability to effectively coordinate with both internal stakeholders and external vendors/partners.
Project Planning & Leadership
- Develop, maintain, and manage detailed project plans, timelines, and milestones for the financial tax platform implementation.
- Define project scope, objectives, deliverables, and success criteria in collaboration with technical and business stakeholders.
- Establish project governance, reporting structures, and communication frameworks.
Execution & Implementation
- Coordinate cross‑functional teams (IT, Finance, Operations) throughout the implementation lifecycle.
- Oversee system configuration, integration activities, and data migration efforts.
- Monitor project progress, manage risks and issues, and ensure the timely delivery of project components.
- Facilitate testing cycles, including SIT, UAT, and end‑to‑end validation activities.
Stakeholder & Vendor Management
- Serve as the primary point of contact for internal leadership, external vendors, and implementation partners.
- Communicate project status, risks, decisions, and dependencies clearly and proactively.
- Manage relationships with vendors to ensure deliverables meet quality, timeline, and scope expectations.
Quality, Compliance & Change Management
- Ensure the platform implementation aligns with regulatory requirements and internal compliance standards.
- Support change management efforts, including training planning, user communication, and adoption strategies.
- Maintain thorough project documentation including requirements, design decisions, testing outcomes, and implementation records.
Qualifications
Required
- 5+ years of experience managing complex system implementations, ideally in financial services, tax technology, or enterprise software.
- Proven success in leading end‑to‑end project delivery, from planning through implementation.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, including experience working with senior leadership and external vendors.
- Solid understanding of project management methodologies, tools, and best practices.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multi‑disciplinary teams and drive outcomes in a fast‑paced environment.
Preferred
- Experience with financial systems, tax calculation platforms, or regulatory technology (RegTech).
- PMP, Agile/Scrum, or other relevant project management certifications.
- Background working in large enterprise environments.
