About the Role
The Project Manager will be part of a Project Management Office (PMO) team responsible for end-to-end IT project governance, assessment, management, and control. This role supports IT initiatives across the Iowa Executive Branch, delivering secure, cost-effective, and innovative technology solutions that serve Iowa’s citizens and state partners. The organization promotes a collaborative, innovative IT culture focused on continuous improvement, transparency, and delivering high-value solutions that positively impact the lives of Iowans.
Roles & Responsibilities
Adhere to established project management governance for multiple concurrent and future projects
Develop and maintain project schedules, identify and staff required resources
Manage procurement of vendor products and implementation services
Submit funding requests and manage delivery efforts
Track project progress and provide regular status reporting through standardized reporting mechanisms
Conduct project meetings and coordinate with business, technical, and executive stakeholders
Ensure adherence to quality standards, timelines, and project deliverables
Gather and define business and technical requirements
Build and maintain detailed project plans
Manage scope, risks, and dependencies while focusing on delivering a minimum viable product
Break down complex initiatives into actionable, sequenced work items
Escalate risks and issues to leadership as needed
Support continuous improvement of portfolio, project, and program management processes
Perform other duties as assigned
Required Skills & Experience
8+ years of experience managing system integration projects
8+ years of experience managing stakeholder expectations and priorities
8+ years of experience working within a project governance structure (methodologies, templates, reporting)
8+ years of experience planning, managing, and tracking multiple high-impact projects
Strong process development, documentation, and gap analysis skills (8+ years)
Excellent multitasking and prioritization skills in a cross-functional environment
6+ years of experience gathering and documenting business requirements
Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Excellent organizational, presentation, and interpersonal skills
