Job Title: Postgres DBA
Location: Sunnyvale, CA & Austin, TX – Onsite
Contract
Rate Max $55/hr on C2C only
Need atleast 5 years in postgres.
Key Responsibilities & Skills:
1. Strong understanding of PostgreSQL architecture and internal components.
2. Hands-on experience with logical and physical backup and restore strategies, including Point-in-Time Recovery (PITR).
3. Proven experience in performing minor and major PostgreSQL version upgrades.
4. Extensive experience with database replication and high-availability solutions.
5. Responsible for day-to-day database operations, monitoring, and performance troubleshooting (CPU/load, locks, blocking, long-running queries, etc..).
6. Deep knowledge of PostgreSQL configuration parameters, system catalogs, and performance views.
7. Experience with routine database maintenance activities (vacuum, analyze, reindex, patching).
8. Hands-on exposure to cloud-based PostgreSQL deployments on AWS (RDS/EC2) and/or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
9. Strong experience with HA/DR tools such as Repmgr, Pgpool, and pgBackRest.
10. Solid hands-on experience with containerization and orchestration technologies, including Kubernetes.
11. Strong scripting skills in Shell and/or Python for automation and monitoring.
12. Proven experience administering multi-terabyte, high-performance production databases.
13. Ability to independently learn, adapt, and implement new technologies.
14. Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across business and technical teams.
15. Experience in designing and supporting large-scale, mission-critical database infrastructure with high transaction volumes.
