Position Summary
Dallas ISD is seeking an experienced Oracle APEX Developer to join their technology team supporting district-wide initiatives aimed at improving student outcomes and operational efficiency. This role involves designing, developing, and maintaining APEX-based applications, integrating data sources, and supporting key reporting workflows.
The ideal candidate will bring strong Oracle APEX and PL/SQL development experience, with the ability to collaborate closely with business stakeholders and technical teams. Prior experience working with K-12 education systems or student data is a plus, though not required.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain Oracle APEX applications supporting student outcomes and reporting initiatives.
- Build intuitive, user-friendly interfaces using modern web technologies.
- Integrate APEX applications with internal and external systems using RESTful APIs.
- Automate business workflows and reporting processes to improve operational efficiency.
- Conduct testing, debugging, and performance tuning to ensure reliability and accuracy.
- Maintain technical documentation, including design specs and user guides.
- Ensure application security and compliance with district and student data policies.
- Collaborate with project managers, analysts, and DBAs to gather requirements and deliver high-quality solutions.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (preferred).
- 5+ years of hands-on experience with Oracle APEX (version 18 or higher).
- 5+ years of experience with SQL and PL/SQL development, including data normalization.
- Strong understanding of database design and application architecture.
- Familiarity with RESTful APIs, repositories, and deployment workflows.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a cross-functional team.
Preferred Skills (Nice to Have)
- Proficiency in HTML, JavaScript, and CSS.
- Prior experience working in a K–12 education environment or with student information systems.
- Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and branch management.
- Experience in performance tuning and application optimization.
