SAP APM (Asset Performance Management)
Remote
Long Term
Contract
An SAP Asset Performance Management (APM) Architect for Donyati is a high-level strategic
role responsible for designing and governing the end-to-end IAM solution across the
company's manufacturing operations. This architect's blueprint would integrate IoT data
from heavy manufacturing assets, like smelter pots and casting equipment, with Donyati's
Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) system to enable predictive and prescriptive
maintenance.
Summary
The SAP APM Solution Architect is a senior technical and functional leader responsible for
the design, implementation, and governance of the SAP Intelligent Asset Management (IAM)
suite, with a primary focus on Asset Performance Management (APM). The role will develop
and drive the APM roadmap, ensuring the solution aligns with Donyati's strategic goals to
maximize asset uptime, improve operational efficiency, and optimize maintenance costs
across its US primary aluminum and carbon manufacturing facilities.
Required qualifications
• Experience: 10+ years of hands-on architecture and 4+ years of experience
implementing and integrating SAP Intelligent Asset Management or Asset
Performance Management solutions for a manufacturing company.
SAP expertise:
• 15+ years of SAP Experience
• Deep functional and technical knowledge of SAP APM, SAP S/4HANA EAM (Plant
Maintenance), and SAP BTP services (IoT, Integration Suite, Analytics).
• Proven experience with asset reliability methodologies such as FMEA and RCM.
• Strong understanding of integration protocols and architectures for connecting
industrial operational technology (OT) to enterprise IT.
• Industry experience: Significant experience in a heavy manufacturing or asset
intensive industry, such as primary metals, mining, or chemicals.
• Solution design: Demonstrated ability to create and document end-to-end
architectural designs, including system landscapes, data models, and integration
strategies.
• Soft skills: Excellent communication, influencing, and negotiation skills to effectively
manage relationships with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred qualifications
• Relevant SAP certifications (e.g., SAP Certified Application Associate – IAM, SAP
EAM).
• Experience with other SAP modules relevant to manufacturing, such as SAP
Manufacturing Integration and Intelligence (MII) or Production Planning (PP).
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., Microsoft Azure) and their integration with SAP
solutions.
Key responsibilities
• Design and governance: Define and own the overall architecture and solution
blueprint for the SAP IAM suite at Donyati, including APM, its integration with SAP
S/4HANA EAM (Plant Maintenance), and other manufacturing systems (e.g., MES,
SCADA).
• Strategic roadmap: Translate business requirements from maintenance, reliability,
and operations teams into a strategic roadmap for APM adoption and expansion. This
includes defining use cases for predictive maintenance on critical equipment.
• Technical leadership: Act as the technical authority for all SAP APM solution design
and implementation activities. Mentor other technical and functional team members
on best practices for configuration, development, and integration.
• Integration management: Oversee the integration landscape for APM, ensuring
seamless and real-time data flow from various sources. Key integrations include:
• IoT sensor data from manufacturing equipment via the SAP Business Technology
Platform (BTP).
• Maintenance execution processes and master data synchronized with SAP S/4HANA
EAM/PM.
• Integration with other applications for reporting (e.g., SAP Analytics Cloud), mobile
access (e.g., SAP Service and Asset Manager), and planning.
• Solution optimization: Conduct architectural reviews and assessments of the
existing APM implementation to identify weaknesses and opportunities for process
improvement, automation, and expanding functionality.
