Position : Business Continuity & Disaster Recovery (BCDR) Planner
Location : Brooklyn, NY Hybrid
Duration : Long term contract
Interview : The first interview will be conducted via Zoom. Candidate selected for a second interview will be required to attend in person at the above location.
Description
We’re seeking an experienced professional to develop, test, and maintain business continuity and disaster recovery strategies that safeguard critical systems and operations. The ideal candidate has expertise in risk assessments, business impact analyses, IT recovery planning, and stakeholder communication, with the ability to lead mock disaster exercises and real-time response efforts. Certifications such as CBCP, CISSP, or CDRE are highly desirable. Join us to ensure resilience, minimize disruption, and protect mission-critical services.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement business continuity and disaster recovery plans for IT systems, data centers, and business operations.
- Conduct risk assessments and business impact analyses to identify vulnerabilities and recovery priorities.
- Plan and lead mock disaster and IT recovery exercises, debrief results, and update plans.
- Create emergency management and communication protocols (call trees, crisis governance).
- Document, report, and regularly refine BCDR strategies.
Requirements
- 7+ years’ experience in Business Continuity & Disaster Recovery planning.
- Proven expertise in risk assessment, BIA, and continuity exercises.
- Knowledge of IT infrastructure, backup & recovery technologies.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Preferred certifications: CBCP, CISSP, CDRE.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Knowledge of IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, databases, and cloud services.
- Understanding of data backup and recovery technologies.
- Proficiency in risk management software and tools.
- Situational awareness, abstract thinking, adaptability, and risk management
- Performing and participating in Business Impact Analyses and Risk Assessments, and facilitating mock exercises, as well as participating in IT recovery exercises are great ways to increase experience with business continuity processes.
- The ability to create or carry out existing business continuity plans, IT technical recovery plans, business continuity policies, and crisis management plans
- Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Skill in creating clear and comprehensive documentation for BCDR plans and procedures.
- Capability to deliver training and awareness programs to ensure staff readiness.
- Strong analytical skills to assess potential risks and vulnerabilities within the organization.
- Capacity to evaluate and prioritize critical business functions and resources.
- Capability to develop strategies for minimizing disruption and maintaining continuity during a disaster
