Immediate need of Cosmos DB Architect – Dallas, TX

Position: Cosmos DB Architect

Location: Dallas, TX (Onsite/Hybrid – as per client requirement)
Duration: Long-Term Contract
Experience: 10+ years total, with 4+ years in architecture roles involving Cosmos DB and Kafka

Job Description:

We are looking for a highly experienced Cosmos DB Architect to join our team in Dallas, TX. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in designing and implementing large-scale, distributed data architectures using Azure Cosmos DB and Apache Kafka.

This is a critical client-facing role that involves architectural planning, solution design, and hands-on technical leadership for enterprise-grade data systems.

Responsibilities:

Lead the design and architecture of scalable, high-performance solutions using Cosmos DB

Architect and implement event-driven systems and streaming data pipelines using Apache Kafka

Define and implement data modeling, partitioning, and consistency models in Cosmos DB

Optimize data storage and access patterns for performance, cost, and scalability

Collaborate with cross-functional teams including DevOps, Data Engineering, and Application Development

Provide architecture guidance, mentoring, and support to development teams

Ensure best practices for data governance, security, and compliance

Create technical documentation, architecture diagrams, and deployment strategies

Required Skills:

10+ years of total IT experience, with 4+ years in data architecture

Strong hands-on experience with Azure Cosmos DB (NoSQL, multi-model capabilities)

Deep understanding of Kafka architecture, producers, consumers, and stream processing

Proficient in cloud-native solutions on Microsoft Azure

Knowledge of event-driven design patterns, data integration, and microservices

Strong experience with NoSQL data modeling and distributed systems

Familiarity with tools like Azure Data Factory, Event Hubs, Functions, etc.

Nice to Have:

Experience with Terraform, ARM templates, or Bicep for infrastructure-as-code

Background in data migration or hybrid data architecture

Knowledge of security best practices in cloud data platforms
