Senior Infrastructure Engineer

Title: Senior Infrastructure Engineer (VMWare to OpenShift Migration)

Location:  Jersey City, NJ

Job Type: Contract

Duration: 12+ Months

Requirements: 

•     Lead and participate in the migration of infrastructure from VMWare to OpenShift on Kubernetes.

•     Manage, configure, and optimize OpenShift clusters on underlying Kubernetes platforms.

•     Provide expert-level Linux (RHEL) administration, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.

•     Maintain and automate infrastructure components including servers, storage, and networking.

•     Implement and support infrastructure-as-code (IaC) practices using Python and automation tools.

•     Monitor system performance and ensure high availability and reliability of critical infrastructure.

•     Collaborate with DevOps, platform, and security teams to ensure smooth infrastructure integration and compliance.

•     Maintain documentation of infrastructure systems and procedures.

Required Skills & Experience:

•     8+ years of experience in infrastructure engineering roles.

•     Strong hands-on experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) – administration, tuning, and support (30% weightage).

•     Deep expertise in OpenShift and Kubernetes – setup, configuration, management, and troubleshooting (30% weightage).

•     Proven experience with VMWare – ESXi, vSphere, vCenter, and VM migrations (20% weightage).

•     Solid understanding of networking, server, and storage technologies (10% weightage).

•     Proficiency in Python scripting for infrastructure automation (10% weightage).

•     Experience working in enterprise environments with a focus on scalability and security.

•     Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, monitoring tools, and IaC frameworks is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications:

•     Certifications such as RHCE, CKA/CKAD, VMWare VCP, or OpenShift Administrator.

•     Experience in cloud-native environments or hybrid cloud infrastructure.

•     Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently in fast-paced environments.
